Rachel Copley BEM G.N.S.M. L.R.A.M.
Rachel was born in Rotherham and studied at the Northern School of Music where she gained the graduate diploma, LRAM and the Singing Prize. Rachel then joined the BBC Northern Singers performing in this country and abroad. She continued her solo career with tuition from Margaret Duckworth, performing recital work and oratorio throughout the region and overseas. Rachel has much experience of a variety of music teaching and is increasingly involved in choral conducting. Rachel has been Musical Director of Rotherham Choral Society since the year 2000.
In 2018, it was announced that Rachel was to be awarded the British Empire Medal in the New Year honours list 2019, in recognition for her services to music charities and the community within South Yorkshire. This is obviously a great honour, and the society is thrilled that her contribution has been recognised.
