Rotherham Choral Society
Rotherham Choral Society is a friendly, enthusiastic and welcoming choir.
We offer a varied repertoire, both sacred and secular, classical and modern, which appeals to our audiences and inspires our singers.
Formed in 1892, Rotherham Choral Society is the longest standing choir in the borough. Our aim is to perform at a high standard and to enjoy ourselves in the process. At present, we have about 60 members.
We usually perform four concerts per season. The two major concerts, one in late Autumn and one in Spring, usually consist of major choral works, performed with professional soloists. The other two concerts, performed at Christmas and in the Summer, feature shorter, lighter musical pieces.
We rehearse every Wednesday at Herringthorpe United Reformed Church from early September to mid-June from 7.15pm to 9.15pm.
Want To Join Us?
Ever thought about joining a singing group? New members are always appreciated in any voice section of the choir. We are particularly delighted to welcome tenors and basses, who are essential to maintain the vocal balance of the choir.
No audition is required, but a pleasant singing voice, a good ear, enthusiasm and willingness to learn are helpful attributes if the obvious asset of reading music is lacking. Music can be hired for a nominal fee.
Prospective members are welcome to join us for a few rehearsals prior to
making a commitment to the Society.
If you'd like to join the choir, or just try us out, do come along any Wednesday evening during school term time, or get in touch by email or phone. These can be found in the 'Contact Us' section.
Rehearsals are 7.15pm to 8:45pm (slightly shorter than usual due to the recent Covid19 restrictions) at Herringthorpe United Reformed Church.
Remember: No audition is needed and all are welcome!
